Pottery Full Day Workshops

Cost: £130.00 per person*.

When: Sundays.

*A non refundable deposit of £25.00 per person is required to reserve and book your session.

This workshop runs on Sundays, a date is arranged to suit you, availability permitting.
This class is a private session for you and your friends for 2-4 people.

If you would like to have a go at making functional objects out of clay, and don’t want to commit to a weekly course, then this could be right up your alley.

This workshop is designed as a one off session, or as a foundation to attend one of my weekly sessions.

I will show you the basic techniques used to hand build, including pinching, coiling and working with slabs, and you will make your very own wares.

You can also split the day and do both throwing on the Pottery Wheel and hand building.

You will receive

-Tuition and demonstrations.
-Your own stoneware clay.
-The use of my studio and equipment.
-Tools and textures to experiment with.
-Decorating slips, underglaze (if applicable) and a choice of glaze.
-Glazing and firing service
-The option to have a go on the potters wheel.

You can choose what to make, I have plenty of samples and a catalogue of inspirational ideas to help you to make your very own functional wares.

By the end of the session

You will have learnt hand building techniques and will have produced up to 3 small pieces or up to 2 large pieces.

I have a wheel, and you are welcome to have a go, time permitting, or you can dedicate the whole session to wheel throwing. Please let me know in advance.

You can make more pieces, but you will be charged extra to cover materials and firing costs. This cost is worked out by weight and/or size. This charge also includes any pots you make on the wheel and want to keep.

This session will give you the foundation for you to continue to make pottery.

*A minimum of two people are required to run this workshop.

You can choose a glaze from my collection, or a clear glaze to enhance your decorated pieces.

I will then glaze and fire your work for you. Each piece is bisque fired in my kiln, glazed and fired again, to a temperature of around 1220 degrees centigrade.

I offer a bolt-on glazing session for you to come back and glaze your pots yourself. You will have a wider choice of glazes and a chance to be more creative with the glaze application. The session costs £25 and lasts up to 2 hours.

Once your work is ready, ( 4-6 weeks) I will contact you and we can arrange collection from my studio. Or we can arrange delivery, and this will be charged separately.
